Kids4Kenya works with African Promise to support a cluster of seven primary schools in the isolated and impoverished region of Kasigau in rural southeast Kenya. These schools serve a total of around 2,500 children from the ages of 3 to 13, most of whom are from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds.
Over the last 10 years, with the help of Kids4Kenya, African Promise has transformed these once dilapidated and run-down facilities into what are now widely regarded as ‘model’ schools and some of the most child-friendly in the region.
In addition to helping to rebuild these schools, ongoing grants from Kids4Kenya also help to provide a daily lunch-time meal to every pupil, to provide textbooks and furniture, and to fund the salaries of much-needed extra teachers.
