The founder of African Promise arrived in Jora in 2006 and oversaw renovations to the classrooms as well as the construction of a library and staff quarters. The school inspired him to create African Promise, and later the American branch, Kids 4 Kenya started.
Over the past eleven years, the charities have constructed a nursery school, kitchen, and an administration block. In addition, they now provide the 315 pupils with lunch, they employ one teacher, they supply electricity, and they fund an annual field trip to Mombasa.
